The Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment, in cooperation with the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, is organizing a series of forums IDENTITIES IN FOCUS in November 2021.

The cycle IDENTITIES IN FOCUS is organized with the intention of presenting key topics and issues of social sciences and humanities to the general public and opening a dialogue on the importance of different aspects and levels of identity in modern society. The language, cultural heritage, history, the importance of identity for diplomacy and security, as well as the role of the media and education in shaping identity will be discussed.

This cycle of discussions is being realized on the occasion of the new program of the National Science Fund called IDENTITIES, intended for scientific research at universities and scientific institutes in the Republic of Serbia. The editors and moderators of the cycle are members of the Scientific Council of the Science Fund: Dr. Ljiljana Rogac Mijatovic, Dr. Mina Zirojevic and Dr. Aleksandar Rastovic.

On Wednesday, November 10th (6:30 pm), the topic will be “Cultural Identity of Serbia: Language, Heritage, Art”, and participants: PhD Aleksandar Milanović, PhD Jasmina Ćirić,  and PhD Jelena Todorović. The moderator is PhD Ljiljana Rogac Mijatovic.

On Tuesday, November 16th (6:00 pm), the topic is “National Identity, Diplomacy and Security”, and the speakers will be: academician Darko Tanaskovic, academician Dragan Simeunović and PhD Darko Paunovic. The moderator is PhD Mina Zirojevic.

On Tuesday, November 23rd (6:00 pm), the cycle ends with the topic “Revision of History, Textbooks and Identity Science”, and experts in the field of history will participate. The moderator is Dr. Aleksandar Rastović.

The discussions are held in the Small Hall of the Kolarac Endowment.
